Description

1. Overview

The ECFG series is built on three pillars: low-code bringup of your own camera modules, high-bandwidth data transfer, and multi-brand deserializer adaptation. The ECFG-S16 is the series' sixteen-channel open-system camera testing tool: deserializers and image sensors are initialized through open low-code configuration, so customer-selected SerDes and sensor combinations can be lit up quickly — covering camera development testing, production-line quality testing, and flash/EEPROM programming over high-quality FAKRA connectors.

High-bandwidth transfer scales across all sixteen channels: each channel is captured through MIPI D-PHY 4 lanes at 2.4 Gbps per lane, sixteen camera modules are tested in parallel with 16-and-1 channel locked raw stream output, and raw video streams out over USB 3.2 Type-C. Multi-brand deserializer adaptation is built in — MAX9296 (GMSL2), MAX96792 (GMSL2/3) and TI DS90UB954/DS90UB9702 (FPD-Link) are supported, and the deserializer can be customized for replacement.

The ECFG series keeps the camera module design in customers' hands and lights up their own modules with low code. If the requirement is instead plug-and-play operation with EC-SDC series cameras, UGrab V2, and onboard AI computing power, the RobooPi P53NVNA AI computing box is the matching product.

2. Product Features

  • Multi-Brand Deserializer Adaptation: Works with MAX9296 (GMSL2), MAX96792 (GMSL2/3), TI DS90UB954 and DS90UB9702 (FPD-Link); the deserializer can be customized for replacement.
  • Sixteen-Channel Parallel Testing: 16 path FAKRA camera module access with 16-channel and single-channel locked output.
  • Frame & Link Status Monitoring: Frame rate statistics, frame loss rate detection, plus voltage and current monitoring with ±1% measurement precision.
  • POC Module Power Supply: 4~16 V camera-side power with 0.1 V regulation steps, 800 mA maximum per path, short-circuit and overcurrent protection around 1 A, and per-path on/off control.
  • GPIO Expansion & USB-to-I2C: Custom GPIO extensions, I2C transparent transmission control, and USB-to-I2C interface dongles for Flash and EEPROM programming.

8. FAQ

Q: What is the ECFG-S16 used for?
A: It is a sixteen-channel open system for the production testing of automotive cameras: development testing, production-line quality testing, and flash/EEPROM programming of camera modules with GMSL or FPD-Link interfaces — sixteen modules tested in parallel.

Q: Which deserializers does it support?
A: MAX9296 (GMSL2) is the standard configuration; MAX96792 (GMSL2/3) and TI DS90UB954/DS90UB9702 (FPD-Link) are optional. For deserialization chips not on the support list, a customized daughterboard can be ordered and integrated through the SDK's low-code interface.

Q: Which cameras can it test?
A: Any FAKRA camera module with a GMSL2/3 or FPD-Link serializer, including your own module designs — SerDes and sensor configurations are brought up with open low code. The ECFG series lights up customers' own modules; if you need plug-and-play operation with EC-SDC series cameras, UGrab V2, and onboard AI computing power, the RobooPi P53NVNA AI computing box is the matching product.

Q: How many channels can stream at the same time?
A: With sixteen 2 MP camera modules, the S16 uploads full-channel RAW data streams at up to 40 fps. With sixteen 8 MP modules, it supports full-channel 40 fps electrical characteristics monitoring plus 4-channel RAW stream upload at up to 40 fps (30 fps when full-channel YUV small-resolution preview is enabled). With sixteen 17 MP modules, it supports full-channel 30 fps monitoring, 4-channel RAW upload at 15 fps, and full-channel full-frame-rate YUV small-resolution preview. Up to 8 S16 units can be cascaded to extend full-frame-rate electrical characteristics monitoring and image preview across the whole array.

Q: How does it power the camera under test?
A: A POC module supplies 4~16 V adjustable in 0.1 V steps, up to 800 mA per path, with short-circuit and overcurrent protection around 1 A and ±1% voltage/current measurement. POC voltage is configured through the SDK API and the power supply is off by default — power is only supplied after the API calls the power-on interface. The unit itself runs from DC 24 V with reverse-connection protection.

Q: What software is included?
A: An SDK development kit with C/C++ and Python API for building your own test applications, and the UGrab GUI interactive software for low-code camera bringup and status monitoring; deserializers and sensors are initialized with open low-code configuration.

Q: What working status monitoring is supported?
A: SerDes link status reporting (e.g. PRBS), a frame counter synchronized with the frame rate, invalid frame detection refreshed every second, frame drop and frame rate fluctuation monitoring, and per-channel voltage and current polling (1 s cycle, averaged over 30 ADC samples). A logging system with configurable levels is built in.

Q: What is the lead time?
A: The lead time for this product is 8 business weeks.
